About Kartal

Kartal district is located on the Asian side of Istanbul on the coast of the Marmara Sea. The district's neighbours are Maltepe to the west, Sultanbeyli and Sancaktepe to the north and Pendik to the east. This area was declared an industrial area in 1947 which led to an increase in the population as well as new neighbourhoods were founded which changed the social and cultural structure. Nowadays, Kartal is a quiet area where families prefer to live. Luxury apartment complexes were built on the coast, along with more inland housing and this attracted more shops and infrastructure. Kartal is home to well-known private and public schools and universities. Highly visited on the weekends, Kartal attracts all families to walk, bike, have a meal in restaurants or enjoy a cup of coffee at the cafés along the sea. For people who love nature, Aydos Forest, which is located in the northern part of Kartal, is a great place for recreation. All transportation lines are available in the area, including buses, minibuses, sea buses and metro that provide easy access to the main areas of Istanbul.
